To rectify this situation and improve pass rates, the College implemented rigorous improvements to the program as part of its Quality Enhancement Plan. The results had a tremendous, positive impact on student success. In only three years, overall student success rates have increased from an average of 50 percent to 87 percent. Students who complete the developmental English program move on to English Composition I and complete that course at higher rates than the overall student population (84 percent versus 73 percent). The Center for Teaching & Learning of Athens Technical College is pleased to announce that they are the recipient of a New Media Consortium (NMC)  HP LIFE E-Learning mini-grant. This grant will be used to facilitate the Fall 2015 CTL Professional Development Program Series: Making it Happen: Entrepreneurship & Education Bootcamp, which will be open to Athens Technical College teaching faculty via an application process. Participants in this Bootcamp will use technology to engage with content in the HP LIFE e-learning series for entrepreneurs,  which focuses on entrepreneurship, business, and IT skills.  Campers will participate in weekly meetings to discuss topics and brainstorm ideas such as how higher education can incorporate ideas from startups and maker culture.  A weekly blog post will encapsulate discussion and provide opportunities for reflection and collaboration.  Participants will complete a brief pre-camp survey and post-camp survey, a potential lesson plan and participate in weekly meetings.  A group blog will be publicly available and also used to communicate information and other resources related to the program.
